The research conducted by Katarina Grom, Ph.D., focuses on analyzing
curriculum design in the field of (pre)literacy development and studying
teachers’ attitudes towards early and initial literacy. As a member of the
development group preparing the curriculum for the first five grades of
primary school, she contributes to developing the new Slovenian language
curriculum for the first educational period. Her work pays special atten-
tion to the vertical development of early and initial literacy, integrating the
contextual and structural model of early literacy development with the in-
tegrative method used in the first grade of elementary school. She advo-
cates for a high-quality educational system with a strong emphasis on liter-
acy, highlighting the responsibility of all individuals involved in children’s
            literacy development.
