SA). In addition to the school-related sphere, the focus of her research work is
the theoretical and practical consideration of various statistical approaches in
analysing the data of international comparative assessment studies.

Urška Štremfel is a Doctor of Political Science and a Scientific Associate em-
ployed at the Educational Research Institute. As part of her research work she
also works closely with the Centre for Political Science Research at the Facul-
ty of Social Sciences at the University of Ljubljana. A particular interest of her
research work lies within the common European cooperation in the field of
education and its impact on the national educational space. As part of this
she devotes special attention to the role international comparative assess-
ment studies play in shaping Slovenia’s national education policy and the ed-
ucational practices of Slovenian schools, as well as the development of evi-
dence-based education.

Tina Vršnik Perše is a Doctor of Educational Sciences, employed at the Facul-
ty of Education of the University of Maribor as an Associate Professor in the
field of pedagogy and at the Educational Research Institute as a Scientific As-
sociate. The main fields of her research work include the education of children
with special needs, teacher professional development and school counselling.
As a project leader and researcher she has participated in a number of interna-
tional comparative assessment studies, applied research projects and nation-
al evaluation studies. As a coordinator and associate she takes part in various
programmes for teacher professional development.

Blaž Zupan is a Teaching Assistant at the Academic Unit for Entrepreneurship at
the Faculty of Economics at the University of Ljubljana. The focus of his research
work is the use of the so-called ‘design thinking’ as a modern reform method
of promoting entrepreneurship at all levels of education, from primary schools
to universities. He is the author of several scientific articles on the topic of pro-
motion of creativity, innovation and entrepreneurship among young people,
published in Slovenian and international peer-reviewed journals.

Janja Žmavc is an Associate Professor in Linguistics working at the Educational
Research Institute in Ljubljana as a Senior Scientific Associate. The fields of her
research work include rhetorical theory and practice, argumentation theory,
linguistic pragmatics and didactics of rhetoric. She is the author of two mon-
ographs and several articles from the field of rhetoric, argumentation and lin-
guistic pragmatics and the co-author of the only Slovenian textbook for rheto-
ric lessons at lower secondary school. She has developed and holds workshops
for rhetorical lessons in general upper secondary schools. For a number of
years she has been working with Slovenian universities as a rhetoric and argu-
mentation lecturer.
