Global establishment of the premises and consequences of the late
capitalism (related to the free market), consolidation of the signi-
ficant information-communication system (net structuring, digitalization
and telecommunication), the rise of specific sciences and technologies etc.
– global society and culture hold certain features, which are structurally,
functionally and in the sense of the engagement as well present in art. The
form of art that is accommodated to the new conditions has exceeded the
modern determinations thus the author introduces a term transart to de-
note them. This is not postmodernist art as the one that comes after mo-
dernism and is for the most part only its radicalization – the prefix trans
expresses more than post-phenomena and emphasizes significant contem-
porary tendencies of art at several levels such as: mobility flexibility, orien-
tation, changeability and exceeding. In the monograph the changes that
concern art and culture in the last half century are discussed, when the fol-
lowing principles have been established in the social fields: networking,
hybridization, increased level of interactivity, veiling the producer or the
author and the related increased attention to the user or the recipient (the
consumer, the viewer, the reader), an increased degree of social responsi-
bility and reflexivity (in art this is evident in the orientation to social-cri-
tical strategies and with increased interest for contemporary sciences and
technologies), transience, mobility, temporariness, openness, heterogene-
ity and transdisciplinarity, traversion of social fields and epistemologically
above all the uncertainty (undetermination and nonobjectivity).
